Sometimes someone is so specific about what they want trained on they have all their questions answered after just a couple of hours. That's all it took for the trainee at Webber Independent school in Milton Keynes. It was an Excel 2013 training course. However certain points are handy:

The first day of an HTML / CSS course and it's a lot to take it. I think that nowadays you can't know one without the other. Based in Norwich, Start-Rite shoes have been making kids shoes for about a couple of centuries and although they have a company do all of there website for them, 5 ladies wanted to have a little knowledge about what's going on behind the scenes. Training Tips:
Remember that although some people update websites everyday, this can often be via some sort of content management system. That being the case they may not be too familiar with the basic building blocks of building a website. The training was in Birmingham and for the Birmingham Museum & Art gallery. Initially for a word course but then changed to an Excel course as it was far more useful. Cataloging around 17 thousand books on art can be pretty laborious but the three volunteers were more than up for it. Which makes me think how many trainers have gone to conduct a course only to discover it's totally unsuitable for the students needs. What do you do? Do you change the course? Do you stick with what you should teach? Has anyone been on a training course and the trainer has gone headlong into the course because that is what they've been told to do, regardless of the what you needed at that time? I decided to go with Excel 2003 intro and got the ball rolling and left them happily entering data. Thanks a lot guys hope it goes well. |
The art of trainingI've seen many things the good the bad and the darn right ugly. Not that perfection in training is anything I've achieved but sometimes a bit of empathy and common sense can make the person you're training feel at ease and aid training. Archives
