Using an organisation chart is one of the best ways to explain the structure of your organisation. However if you have the structure already, Visio can use that information to create an organization chart from an Excel spreadsheet. I have just posted a video on the Computer Tutoring site on how you go about this. Other subjects covered today:

Another PowerPivot training course at Roehampton University near Hammersmith. Also a big shout out to Rod, a could be future trainer, who attended the course. PowerPivot can be tricky, so the morning part of the course went well whereas the afternoon part of the course was probably a little too advanced. If you are training someone who has a knowledge of databases then that's fine. But to a none database user it's just too much. I may have to re-write the manual, including exercises more of a practical nature. However they did reserve a parking space, soooo cool! If you haven't done so, check out our video about building data models in PowerPivot That's right first time training with 3 screens. This time it was the wonders of Visio. Teaching the Operations team at AXA insurance was a great experience, especially when displaying on two TV screens and one projector. Visio is one of those programs that is vastly underestimated. From Flowcharts, to organisation charts you can create these diagrams quickly and easily. You can even use Visio to create floor diagrams. To find out more check out our Visio beginners course and you tube for creating a flowchart in Visio.
You wouldn't believe it if I hadn't said it. That's right, we offered a free training day in Chiswick at the Chiswick business park. In this way we could let the businesses on the Chiswick business park know who we are, and give them exclusive offers on IT training. With attendees from the Discovery channel, Starbucks and 2 oil companies we are positive that more training will develop. Thanks to my beautiful wife Cindy who made the lunches, and to Kezia for taking some fantastic photos. Also thanks to all the delegates who attended.

The art of trainingI've seen many things the good the bad and the darn right ugly. Not that perfection in training is anything I've achieved but sometimes a bit of empathy and common sense can make the person you're training feel at ease and aid training. Archives
